Ich möchte gerne die Daten auf meinem PowerBook und meinen PowerMac G5 per Chronosync synchronisieren. Das klappt auch alles ganz wunderbar und automatisiert, aber nur bei den Dingen, die in meinem eigenen Userordner liegen. Ich möchte aber gleichzeitig auch die Daten eines anderen Benutzers und die im "Shared"-Ordner synchronisieren und das klappt nicht. Es kommen Fehlermeldungen wegen fehlender Rechte usw. Gibt es da eine Möglichkeit, das mit einem einzigen Sync-Vorgang hinzukriegen, oder muss ich mich für jedes Verzeichnis als anderer User einloggen? Soetwas wie eine "Sync as root"-Funktion habe ich noch nicht gefunden. Ach ja, mit Synchronize Pro X hab ichs auch schon versucht, da klappt es ebenfalls nicht (auch nicht als root).

Vielleicht rsync als root laufen lassen? (sudo rsync ...)

Hab ich keine Erfahrung mit und würde das wegen der sehr guten Automatisierungsmöglichkeiten eigentlich auch gerne mit Chronosync machen. Geht so etwas nicht auch damit?

Du könntest versuchen ChronoSync mit sudo zu starten (damit es die Rechte hat).

Wenn Dein Sync Dokumente mySync.sync heist, dann gib im Terminal dazu
sudo open pfad-zum-document/mySync.sync
ein. Damit wir ChronoSync als su gestartet.

Danke, das hat schon mal geklappt. Mal sehen, was dabei rauskommt, der Sync läuft gerade und dauert wohl noch ein Weilchen ...
Fall es klappt, kann man das denn auch irgendwo festlegen, dass Chronosync automatisch immer so geöffnet wird? Mir geht es ja darum, das ganze per Zeitplänen zu automatisieren.

Du kannst folgendes machen:
Chronosync liegt im Ordner Programme, nehme ich mal an

Im Terminal

cd/Applications

sudo chown -R root:wheel ChronoSync.app

sudo chmod -R u+s ChronoSync.app

Danach läuft Chronosync über alle UserGrenzen hinweg. Also VORSICHT!

Von econ habe ich dazu noch folgende Tips/Hinweise bekommen:

Using ChronoSync in Administrative Mode

For the most part, using ChronoSync in administrative mode is just like using it in standard mode. There are a couple points worth noting, however:

1. You should enable the "Preserve folder access" option in the "Special File/Folder Handling" group of the "Options" panel. If you fail to do this, all folders created by ChronoSync will be owned by the root user.

2. The "Owner/Group" sync trigger, also located in the "Options" panel, should probably be enabled. Running in Administrative Mode is the only sure way to maintain ownership and group information associated with each file.

3. Administrative privileges do not extend to file servers! If synchronizing to/with a file server, you will only have the access permissions of whatever user you logged onto the file server as. Thus while you will have no problem accessing locally stored files and folders, you may still run into access permissions on the server side.

4. Enabling administrative privileges for applications such as ChronoSync is generally a security risk. Any user that can execute ChronoSync will have full access to all files on your machine. Fortunately, ChronoSync detects when it is running in Administrative mode and requires you to authenticate yourself as an administrator prior to interacting with it. Authentication is NOT required for scheduled synchronizations, however.

5. Consider installing multiple copies of ChronoSync on your machine. If you have multiple users on your machine, you may want to install a copy of ChronoSync in "/Applications" for all users to access, and another copy in your home folder for only you to access. The second, private copy of ChronoSync is the one that you would modify to run in administrative mode. This grants you full access to the machine but restricts other users to just the file they are allowed to access. You are allowed to do this without purchasing another copy of ChronoSync.

Da steht jetzt auch schwarz auf weiß, warum das z.B. bei Syncronize Pro X mit dem "root-Modus" nicht klappen konnte: Ich synchronisiere zu meinem PowerBook über AirPort als FileServer!
D.h. dass ich wohl doch jeden User einzeln synchronisieren muss.
