Wo befindet sich denn die "default_smart.plist"? Habe nämlich auch versucht über den Finder an die Maildaten zu kommen - hat aber natürlich nicht geklappt.
Selbst wenn ich unter "Andere..." den Mail-Ordner hinzugefügt hatte, verzichtet er dennoch auf eine dortige Suche unter beliebigen Stichwörtern.

Könnte ich denn nun die Datei so verändern, dass der Finder auch nach Mails sucht? Und wenn ja, wie?

Es geht hier nicht um Win/MAC.

Apple kann ein solches BugFest eigentlich nicht rausbringen.
Pro user machen das genau einmal mit,und dann wechseln sie die Plattform.
Ebenso Switcher.
Wohlgemerkt,ich liebe die Mac Plattform und bin seit OS8 dabei.
Nur so etwas wie Tiger kann man eigentlich nicht rausbringen.

Dazu muss man aber auch sagen dass ich mit dem Tiger bisher kein so gravierendes Problem (und auch kein kleines) hatte, dass ich nun an was für einen Wechsel auch immer denken würde. Hier läuft der Tiger rund soweit.

Dann rate ich dir, arbeite nie in der Softwareentwicklung, denn Software ohne Fehler gibt es nicht. Wieviele Fehler wirklich drin sind, bekommen die Leute nur normalerweise nie mit bzw. gesagt. Deswegen hält sich der Glaube bei Anwendern, es gäbe sowas wie fehlerfreie Programme... Die Liste ist zumindest nix ungewöhnliches bei Software dieses Umfangs.

genehack hört sich ja ganz vielversprechend an die Liste. hatte zwar bislang keinerlei Probleme oder Macken mit Tiger, aber vielleicht sind sie mir nur nicht aufgefallen.
Jetzt muss es nur mal langsam kommen, das "Servicepack 3"

Rantanplan Nur sagt man normalerweise irgendwann "it's good enough" und dieses "it's good enough" mag bei Panther zum richtigen Zeitpunkt gewählt worden sein, Tiger hätte aber eigentlich erst mit der .3 veröffentlicht werden dürfen. Sicher, seit der .2 kann man mit leben, aber es ist insgesamt immer noch sehr fehlerbehaftet und Kernfeatures wie Spotlight funktionieren einfach inakzeptabel.

noch ein wort zum thema suche (unter 10.4.3)

wenn man spotlight statt über apfel-leertaste, über apfel-alt-leertaste aktiviert, kann man die einschränkungen auf der rechten seite sehr elegant über tab bzw. shift-tab markieren und per leertaste auswählen.

es empfiehlt sich bei einem so herausragenden betriebssystem immer erst eine reihe von tastenkombinationen auszuprobieren, bevor man meckert.

im übrigen stimme ich mit der Kritik über die intelligenten Ordner überein.

Don´t Touch a Runnig System

Ich vermisse auch die Möglichkeit bei Spotlight gemischte UND/ODER-Verknüpfungen benutzen zu können (besonders bei Mail). Jedenfalls geht das nicht per Klickibunti. Irgendwo in den Developer-Tools (ich weiß leider nicht mehr wo ich das gesehen hatte) haben sie ein Suchfenster, wo man per GUI verschachtelte UND/ODER-Verknüpfungen bei der Suche machen kann. Wer jetzt mein, es würde nur verwirren -- wer es verwirrend findet, der soll es dann einfach nicht benutzen -- ist ja kein Problem.

Ich hoffe die ändern das nicht erst mit 10.5, denn das (u.a. die Integration auf Dateiseystemebene) ist eigendlich eine Grundfunktionalität, ohne die sie Spotlight eigendlich nicht hätten bewerben sollen. So wie Spotlight jetzt zu benutzen ist, ist es (für mich) schlicht am Rande der Unbrauchbarkeit. Ich hatte mal gesehen, daß man vieles auch mit internen Suchausdrücken erledigen kann, aber die kann ich mir immer nicht merken (bin Berufsschussel).
