Icons eines Japaners...

trw
trw06.09.0417:18
Moinmoin,

The Age of Aquarius (8.31.04) - This week's freeware release from Iconfactory artist, Kate England, heralds the positions of the stars and planets and asks "Have you read your horoscope lately?". Constellations of the Zodiac is a great companion for anyone interested in astrology and is available for both Mac and Windows as well as a handy, compact Pixadex iContainer. Don't wait for Mars to enter the Second House, fly over to the Showroom and download these groovy icons today.

Land ho! (8.24.04) - This week's icon release is very loosely related to Anthony's Jolly Roger release from last week. Inspired by the Marion family's summer trips to the Outer Banks we present Corey's tribute to the majestic light stations of the North Carolina coast. From the tiny Ocracoke Island light to the nearly 200 ft. tall Cape Hatteras light, this set covers all seven major lighthouses along the coast. Follow the beacons to the showroom and download these postcards to pin to your desktop or send to friends and family. Greetings from the Outer Banks!

Maintenance Release for Pixadex (8.20.04) - Our friends over at Panic have put together a maintenance release for our popular icon organization utility, Pixadex. This new version is a free upgrade for registered users and corrects several important bugs. We recommend everyone who uses Pixadex to stop by the application's home page and download the update today.

Ahoy There Mateys! (8.16.04) - We've sailed the high seas to round up the toughest and roughest bunch of pirates that ever hoisted a main sail for this week's release - Jolly Roger. This set of freeware icons from Iconfactory artist, Anthony Piraino is perfect for all of those out there that love pirates, finding buried treasure and getting keel hauled. So walk five paces to the Showroom and download these fun, bold icons for either your Mac or Windows machine or as a handy, searchable, Pixadex iContainer. And keep one eye on the horizon for that black flag, you never know when its going to appear!

CandyBar Updated (8.12.04) - Panic & The Iconfactory have updated our popular icon customization tool, CandyBar, to version 1.6.5. This version is fully qualified for use with the newly released Mac OS X 10.3.5 and is a free upgrade for registered users. We invite users to head on over to the CandyBar homepage to download the update and replace older versions of the software. CandyBar is shareware and is available for $12.95 USD.

Announcing “Sprite” Stock Icon Collection (8.12.04) - We are pleased to announce the latest in our growing collection of royalty-free stock icons for designers and developers, Sprite. Designed using simple shapes and gradients, Sprite is perhaps the most approachable stock icon collection yet. The hand-drawn style of the collection lends credibility and immediacy to any project. Sprite is available in our standard bitmapped formats as well as in EPS format for larger print and web applications. We invite you to visit stockicons.com to learn more about this and other royalty-free icon collections.

Sweet System Treat! (8.10.04) - We're pleased to announce this week's freeware release is the latest from Iconfactory new guy and icon artist extraordinaire, David Lanham. Puft System is a soft, white, and subtle collection of system icons that are designed to work with our system customization software, CandyBar. Appropriate heh? These minimalist system icons fade into the background and make it easy to spot applications at work in the Finder or in the Dock. We invite you to swing by the Showroom and download Puft System today for the Mac, Windows or as a ready-to-go CandyBar iContainer. Now, pass those graham crackers!

Riders of the Storm (8.3.04) - This week's freeware icon collection is a tribute to the popular Hong Kong comic book, Storm Riders. Talos Tsui has created a set of icons based on the various swords from the series that will delight any anime or manga fan and make slick additions to any desktop. If you are a Storm Riders fan, be sure to check out Talos' previous SR icon set and then head on over to the Showroom to download these cool icons for either Mac or Windows or as a handy Pixadex iContainer.

Well Wishes For the Founder & Family (8.3.04) - Just a quick note to ask visitors to keep Corey and family in their thoughts these next few days. Why is that you ask? The Marion Family left for their bi-annual vacation last Sunday, which, under normal circumstances would be a cause for celebration. Except that their vacation destination, as it is every year, is the Outer Banks of North Carolina. If you've been watching the weather, than you know that the first hurricane of the season, Alex, just happens to be brushing NC's coast this week. That being the case, we are keeping Corey and family in mind. We'll keep you posted on the Marion clan, and in the mean time, keep your finger's crossed that Alex will head out to sea and Corey & Cynthia can survive being locked inside with their children all day long.

Panda-Z is Here! (7.27.04) - Hop on over to the Showroom to pick up this week's Tuesday release, Panda-Z. Mindy just couldn't resist drawing these CUTE little guys. Panda-Z is available for Mac, Win or as a handy Pixadex iContainer. Hope you enjoy them!

Presenting Max Rudberg (7.20.04) - We're pleased to announce that Mac theme and GUI artist, Max Rudberg, has completed his very first OS X icon set. Some of you may know Max from the accomplished theme work he's done for the platform. What you may not know is that Max has been working as an intern in the Iconfactory / Marmalade Moon office in Stockholm, Sweden for several months. One of his first assignments was an icon set of course, and this week’s “New Icon Tuesday” release of Play Time over at Max Themes is the result. We hope you will support the efforts of this fledgling icon artist and download his work and if you enjoy it, write to him and let him know. Its takes a great deal of talent and patience to pull off a set so successfully on your first time out, and from all of us here at the factory, we'd like to say "Well done Max!". Enjoy.

The Flavors of Summer (7.13.04) - We're pleased to bring you this weeks freeware icon release - Summertime Snacks. Iconfactory Foreman, Gedeon Maheux has whipped up a set of food icons associated with the summertime season for your Mac or PC. These icons are so yummie they will get your tummy grumbling and your mouth watering. Don't waste any time, head on over to the Showroom and download Summertime Snacks for either Mac or Win or as a handy Pixadex iContainer. Now pass the ketchup please!

Stack Those Raw Pixels Over There (7.7.04) - Just a quick note to let everyone know that we will be shutting the factory down tomorrow as we move our pixel-pushers over to the brand new factory floor. If all goes well we will restart the assembly line over the weekend just in time to produce our latest icon set for next Tuesday's release. Thanks for your patience while we upgrade our facilities.

The Final Chapter Unfolds (7.6.04) - Today's freeware release is the final chapter in icon artist Kate England's Private Eye series. Private Eye Act 3 concludes this story of mystery and murder and is available today in the Showroom as either standard Mac or Win icons or as a handy Pixadex iContainer. So don't waste any time, hot foot it over there and grab these icons while the trail is still warm! Enjoy.

Kudos to Panic! (6.30.04) - The word out of WWDC this morning is that our good friends over at Panic have picked up two prestigious Apple Design Awards for their ground-breaking work on Unison. The Usenet news reader application won Runner-Up for Best Mac OS X Product as well as 1st place for Best Mac OS X Experience. While we'd like to think we contributed a teeny, tiny bit to Unison's "Mac OS X Experience", of course its the talented team of dedicated programmers and designers at Panic that cranks out one award winning piece of software after another. So from all of us here at The Iconfactory, well done guys!

Smoothicons 10 for Independence Day (6.29.04) - Our latest freeware release from Iconfactory Founder, Corey Marion, proves that the factory's assembly line never sleeps. Even though Corey's schedule has been busy getting ready for his annual trip to WWDC, he found time to create his latest icon set - Smoothicons 10. When did he find time to pump out these super patriotic icons you might ask? Why on his flight from North Carolina to California while cruising at 30,000 feet of course! We invite you to visit the Showroom and download these fun icons in time for the 4th of July. And if you're attending WWDC, don't forget to stop by our booth and tell Corey thanks for his amazing pixel-pushing dedication. Enjoy!

New Products & Updates for WWDC (6.25.04) - Once again, Corey and Craig will be making their annual pilgrimage to Apple's WWDC conference in San Francisco to learn the latest about Mac OS X as well as to meet and greet our fellow developers. If you will be attending WWDC, be sure to stop by our booth in the Exhibit Fair next week from June 28th to June 30th.

It has been one year since the launch of stockicons.com, and to mark the resounding success of providing developers with affordable, professional-quality royalty-free icons, we proudly present our latest offerings.

Cricket is a new casual-style collection that is offered in the traditional stockicons format and a new designer series EPS version. We also present our first expansion set in our very popular Harmony style, Harmony: Database Add-On. We invite you to visit both stockicons.com as well as our newly updated design.iconfactory.com site to learn the latest about these products as well as additional design services we offer.

Go Climb a Rope! (6.22.04) - This week's freeware icon set comes from Anthony and is a sequel to his previously released Take a Hike collection. Climb On is a collection of fun rock climbing gear that will help your computer desktop ascend to new visual heights. We invite you to swing on over to the Showroom and stock up on this cool gear today. Climb On is available for Mac, Win or as a handy Pixadex iContainer.

End of Week Grab Bag (6.18.04) - As we head into the weekend here at the factory, we wanted to post a quick note to let everyone know to keep your eyes out for several new factory animations that will be popping up in the weeks ahead. The pixel gnomes have been working overtime to send these down the assembly line and the first few are rolling off now, so stay alert, you never know when you'll see something new. Also, David Lanham has produced a soothing desktop picture to accompany his recent Somatic System Replacement set of icons. Be sure to surf on over (goodies section) and check it out, it will give you warm, fuzzy feelings all over. Lastly, thanks to everyone who has taken the time to write with your positive comments regarding the release of the 200th set. Its gratifying to know that our efforts to bring you freeware icons are so appreciated, thank you!

Still Going Strong (6.15.04) - It was about this time eight years ago that Corey, Talos and Ged decided to create a webpage (hosted on AOL), that would serve as a place where people could come and download icons for their Macs. 199 freeware sets and over 5,700 individual icons later, we're still here and kicking. Pretty good for a group of people that push pixels into the shapes of tiny little things. Of course, we wouldn't be here without the hard work and dedication of all of the individuals that keep The Iconfactory up and running smoothly, as well as our loyal fans.

Four years ago we announced our 100th set on the cusp of the release of Mac OS X. Today, we are proud to release our latest freeware collection, The IF 200th Set. This set of system replacement icons harkens back to the heady days of Mac OS 9 and the beloved "Copland" style of desktop folders and files. All of the 32x32 and 16x16 versions of this set have been tweaked by hand for maximum "Pixel-clickiness" and look great even in the modern environment of OS X. The set also includes some Iconfactory themed desktop pictures to complete your factory makeover. The IF 200th Set works great with CandyBar, our system icon replacement utility.

We sincerely hope you enjoy our 200th release and invite you to stick around for the next 100 sets. Drop us a line if you feel so inclined, and remember, we'll keep making them, if you keep downloading.

History in the Making (6.10.04) - If you pop over to the Warehouse, you'll see an interesting statistic on display - 199 icon sets in inventory. Back in June of 2000, The Iconfactory released its 100th icon set and now, four years later we've reached another milestone. Another 100 sets of free icons have been released, and to celebrate we're working up something special. So be sure to be here this Tuesday for the release of The Iconfactory's 200th set. It won't be a huge, star-studded event, but it will be our way of saying thanks for your continued support over the years. Now let's get that champagne a chillin'!

Introducing "Somatic" For CandyBar (6.8.04) - The Iconfactory is proud to announce the release of the first official freeware collection from our new worker, David Lanham. David joined the factory back in April and has been cultivating this unique set of system replacement icons in the interim. Somatic is a set of over 80 icons that you can use with CandyBar to customize your Mac's folders, trash cans, toolbar icons and more. The set is fun and imaginative and will appeal to both adults and kids alike. Somatic even includes some replacement icons for popular application icons as well as extras thrown in for fun. And don't forget, that even though this set is built for CandyBar, Pixadex users will find the iContainer complete with keywords for easy searching. So mosey on over to the Showroom and download this monster set from David today.

And Now For Something Completely Different (6.2.04) - This week's freeware icon release is a sort of visual experiment from Iconfactory artist, Talos Tsui. Totem Pole is a unique set of system and application icons with visual influences from Native American artwork. The icons are designed to stack together in a vertically oriented dock, but also work well on their own. If this collection is popular, Talos predicts more in the series, so drop us a note and let us know your thoughts. Totem Pole is available for both Mac and Win and comes as a handy Pixadex iContainer. Enjoy.

New Freeware Icons Tomorrow (6.1.04) - The U.S. Memorial Day Holiday has put the workers behind a day or so on the assembly line, so be sure to tune in here tomorrow for the latest freeware release from IF artist, Talos Tsui. And while your patiently waiting, be sure to swing on over to MacThemes.net and read the in-depth interview with our own Dave Brasgalla. You'll get to know what makes Dave tick and how he does some of those oh-so-cool things with icons. Check it out!

Will You Pilot Eva? (5.27.04) - We're proud to announce that this week's freeware release is the latest in Mindy's series of Neon Genesis Evangelion desktop pictures. This time out, our focus is the series' own "hero" Shinji Ikari. Shinji is available in multiple screen resolutions and makes a great desktop for anime fans everywhere. Surf on over to our sister site, theDeskStop and grab it today.

CandyBar Updated For OS X 1.3.4 (5.27.04) - Panic & The Iconfactory's popular system icon customization utility, CandyBar, has been updated to keep pace with the latest Apple OS X release of 1.3.4. This version is fully qualified for use with the new OS and is available from the CandyBar homepage now.

Movin' On Up! (5.21.04) - For the second time in three years, The Iconfactory has outgrown its office space in Greensboro, NC. Its now been one year since Designer Anthony Piraino joined the factory, and the recent addition of Designer David Lanham pushed us over the occupancy limit. Since the workers are now packed in tighter than pickles (thanks Ellen!), we've made arrangements to move... two doors down to a new space. Drop by our gallery page from time to time to check its progress (hey, its something to do). If all goes according to plan, we should be moving into the new office the week of July 6th. Stay tuned!
