DVD-Brenner im iBook?

Snoopy17.10.0300:51
Kann ich das Toshiba SD-R6012 (evtl. 6112, weil 2fach) DVD-Brenner Laufwerk einbauen?

Reviewer’s Name: Julian Lee
Date Submitted: 8/18/2003
Drive Type: DVD-R DVD Recorder
Drive Interface: IDE
Drive Brand: Toshiba
Drive Model Number: SD-R6012 1xDVD-R/RW, 16x CD-R, 4x CD-RW, 8x DVD, 24x CD
Driver Used: Apple Hacked
Mac Model: Apple iBook 2002 (Radeon Mobility)
Mac OS Version: OS X
Reader Comments: I installed a Toshiba SD-R6012 in my one-month old ibook (CD version) ’cos I was dying to be able to burn from within all the iApps!!

Although installation was a pain (All those screws!!), I am pleased to announce that once I had my ibook booted back up it was really easy to use the R6012 hacked driver that Ryan contributed earlier this year. (Reader FYI - the file is available in the FAQ’s CDROM/CDR and DVD sections-Mike)

Almost everything works now!! I have tested playing / reading CDs, DVDs, and can burn CD-R/RW direct from all the iApps.

Unfortunately, the drive doesn’t seemt o like DVD-R at the moment... it just keeps spitting them back out!! I’m using Maxell DVD-R media, so I THINK the media shouldn’t be the problem! Hopefully it will work once I get my hands on other media!

Also, the bezel is significantly different from the LG bezel, so I guess I will have to get a new one from somewhere!

Hopefully I can get the last remaining issues sorted out! Thanks for the driver, and all the howtos! This site is such a great resource!!

Mike Comments: Thanks.
Remember iDVD requires a G4 CPU - so the iBook G3s won’t be able to use it (but maybe you are using Toast 5 for burning DVDs - not sure).

Did you run repair permissions lately? (I do after every OS X and X apps update).
Also remember when 10.2.7 comes out it may overwrite modified plugins (most all OS X updates have). Just a FYI (in case 10.2.7 doesn’t add support for a drive you’ll have to try reinstalling the modified plugin)
