hi imac user
es wäre hilfreich wenn du dein problem etwas genauer beschreiben würdest. was du schon alles versucht hast, was geht, was nicht geht, ob überhaupt irgendwas geht

auf jeden fall hab ich folgendes im forum von xlr8yourmac zum thema iomega 55292EXT gefunden. vielleicht hilft dir das schon weiter.

Reader Comments: Using a PCI /USB1/Firewire
For Macos 9.2.2 impossible to use HotBurn ( bundled with CDRW)
I use Toast 5.2 and that works fine, BUT, I need to put the USB cable after the end of the boot process, otherwise the system freezes.

For MacOsX 10.2.3 the CDRW is NOT recognized. Iomega says that the driver is included in the system... it is a Mac/PC CDRW, (this is why i Bought it ) and it works well with HotBurn pro using Windows XP. problem

Mike Comments: OS X burn support (itunes/discburner) depends on the actual drive mechanism used having a brand device-plugin file in OS X with the same model no. of the drive in the file (FAQ's CDROM/CDR section has some modified support files - but no idea what 'brand' of actual drive mechanism is in the case - and often iomega may modify the firmware ID of the drive - making support files difficult since you don't know what brand plugin file to clone, edit, etc.)
The FAQ has a link to the main site page on editing support files for OS 9 and OS X but without knowing what the drive mechanism really is (toast recorder info and ASP will report that - but again iomega often has revised firmware IDs rather than the OEM drive's original firmware ID, which masks what the original drive really is - it may be reported only as an "iomega" model, etc. rather than the actual OEM drive mechanism model.)
But Toast5 is more flexible, although native iApps burn support is nice to have (especially now with the latest iMovie/iPhoto, etc. burn features)

With USB 1.1 limited to 1.5MB/sec (max in theory) rates (and about 4x max burns in reality), I'd prefer a Firewire drive for higher burn rates than USB 1.x allows. PCs running Win98SE and later can use FW PCI cards.
(no USB 2.0 drivers for USB 2.0 PCI cards for macs - although OS X USB 2.0 drivers exist for many of them).
