Apple TV 3: Apple gibt Software-Update frei

Für Besitzer eines Apple TV der dritten Generation hält Apple ein Software-Update parat. Interessanterweise erhöht sich die Versionsnummer durch die Aktualisierung nicht, lediglich die Buildnummer steigt um einige Zähler. Aus diesem Grund wird die Version weiterhin als "iOS 7.2.1" geführt. Die Bezeichnung "tvOS" verwendet Apple nur für das Apple TV der vierten Generation. Leider gibt es keine Angaben zu den konkreten Verbesserungen des Updates. Es ist davon auszugehen, dass keine funktionellen Neuerungen vorhanden sind, stattdessen handelt es sich wohl um ein reines Update zur Fehlerbehebung und Stabilitätsverbesserung. Laden und installieren lässt sich die neue Version über die integrierte Software-Aktualisierung des Apple TV.

Hä, Stabilitätsverbesserungen?
Was ist denn das für ein Quark? Mein Apple TV3 funktioniert … ist langweiliger als mein Amazon Firestick, aber funktioniert - wobei die Podcast-App komischerweise träger in der Aktualisierung als meine Rechner und meine iOS Devices ist….

Vielleicht täte Apple gut daran auch dem Apple TV 1, 2 oder 3 mal ein wenig Brainpower zu gute kommen zu lassen….
Ansonsten bekommt man doch schnell das Gefühl … "ausgekippt" zu werden.

Gab es eigentlich ein Update für das AppleTV 3 seit Apple den problematischen discoveryd in allen anderen Geräten wieder gegen den alten mdnsresponder ausgetauscht hat?
Ich wartete eigentlich seitdem auf das ATV3 Update und wenn ich es nicht übersehen habe, ist es das erste seitdem...

Ein bissi Aktualisierung der angestaubten Software wäre nicht schlecht. Ich will nicht unbedingt ein ATV4 kaufen, nur weil das ATV3 schon quasi beim Erscheinen nicht mehr interessant für Apple war.

Bitte was? Die Apple TV 3 gibt es seit März 2012 und die Apple TV 4 kam Okt. 15 und in der Zeit hat Apple viel an der Apple TV 3 gemacht und verändert wie z.B. einst eine völlig neue Oberfläche. So Siiefmütterlich ist Apple also gar nicht mit dem Gerät umgegangen. Und die Apple TV 3 ist damit in seiner Rubrik am längsten auf dem dem Markt gewesen im Vergleich zu seiner Vorgängermodelle.

Ähhhh das Apple TV3 könnte sicherlich wesentlich mehr als es kann.
Bisschen Film über iTunes…. ähhh iPod… Watchever… aber Apple Music z.B… ?
Genaugenommen ist das Teil für jeden, der ein iDevice und einen streamingfähigen Fernseher hat, relativ unnötig….

Warum hast es dir dann überhaupt gekauft, wenn dir die Funktionen nicht gefallen?

Kann Motivhimmel eigentlich nur zustimmen. Vom damaligen Release bis letzten Sommer gabs immer wieder neue Apps. Einzig, dass man Apple Music nicht dafür anbietet ist etwas komisch, aber ansonsten kann man nun nicht meckern.

Weil ich damit gerechnet habe das das auch gepflegt wird und dahingehend wurde ich enttäuscht.
Welche "Apps" Du als immer wieder neu und eingepflegt bezeichnen würdest erschließt sich mir nicht im geringsten.
Bitte benenne mir ein paar davon.

Apple TV 3 ist im Prinzip ein Streamingdevice…. und das Du die wichtigste "Neuerung" Apple Music nicht existent für AplleTV3 - obwohl es technisch sicher möglich wäre - nur verwundert empfindest, kann mich wiederum nur verwundern….

Ich hab mir meins erst gekauft, als es mit Erscheinen des ATV4 plötzlich bei Ebay unter 50 Euro sackte. Und zwar nur wegen Airplay. Und überrascht habe ich entdeckt, dass die Musikfunktion gar nicht dumm ist. Insbesondere, weil sie den Rechner "halb" aufweckt. Kodi ist in diesem Punkt deutlich langsamer und buckliger.

Die Apps auf dem ATV3 sind ALLE Müll. Nichts, aber auch rein gar nichts davon ist für den deutschen Markt vorgesehen, die popeligsten Inhalte kosten Geld, Sport interessiert mich nicht die Bohne, der Fotobildschirmschoner kann nur auf den Fotostream zugreifen (dank iOS8 - und da liegt bei mir quasi nur noch Restmüll). Netflix etc ist vielleicht ganz nett, wenn man Kunde ist. Mir fehlt da aber Amazon (jaja, persönliche Vorliebe und so...). Youtube lässt sich besser mit iPad bedienen und dann rüberbeamen.
Wirklich fehlen mir aber die deutschen Mediatheken (ARD, ZDF, 7TV, Dokukanal, DMAX etc).
Und das ist der Punkt, den ich meine: Da war von Seiten Apple nicht mal der Hauch von Interesse. Keine Ahnung, ob es daran liegt, dass die Maschine nur als Geldquelle interessant war (deswegen die vielen Abokanäle) und sich deswegen niemand um kostenlose Inhalte kümmerte. Warum auch ZDF mit Gratisinhalten für ein paar popelige Millionen Zuschauer, wenn man stattdessen hunderten Millionen mehrere Sport-Abos aufquatschen kann.

Aber: Es tut, was es soll. So ist es ja nicht. Will ich mehr, kann ich auch das ATV4 nehmen. Nur hätte sicherlich auch ein simples Update auf iOS9 auf das ATV3 gehoben werden können - inklusive vieler der "Innovationen" fürs ATV4 (z.B. auch ein App-Store, der jahrelang versprochen wurde).

Es wurde doch gepflegt – neue Apps, Wartungsupdates und dann kam noch ein Facelifting im Zuge von iOS 7.

Apps die im laufe der Zeit dazu kamen, waren Arte, diverse Sport- und Musikvideo-Mediatheken, glaube HBO (Home?) kam ebenso dazu usw. Sicher nicht immer für den deutschen Markt interessant, aber die Entwickler-Schnittstelle war durchaus vorhanden, man musste halt nur aktiv auf Apple zugehen.

Könnte deine Enttäuschung ja verstehen, hätte Apple von Anfang an gesagt, es gibt im Laufe der Zeit einen App Store, Super-Super-Funktion AB und dann noch XY. Gabs aber nicht.

Das mit Apple Music ist blöd, ja. Aber wenn mans denn unbedingt nutzen will, steht ja immer noch Airplay zur Verfügung ums nutzen zu können.

Das waren Gerüchte. Apple hat nie einen App Store fürs Apple TV 2 und 3 versprochen.

So ganz generell:
Man kauft ein Produkt mit den Funktionen, die es zum Kaufzeitpunkt bietet. Gibt es im Laufe der Zeit neue Funktionen, freu ich mich. Wenn nicht, schade, aber ich wusste ja was ich kaufe. Da steckt glaube ich bei manchen einfach eine zu große Erwartungshaltung hinter.

Njaja nun, würde mtn Ahnung haben, würde Sie sowas recherchieren und redaktionell aufbereiten... da mtn aber wie die meisten nur irgendwelchen wiedergekäuten Text veröffentlichen... steht hier eben der tägliche Müll wie überall... diese Müllseite kann man sich eh sparen... genau so wie die meisten unbrauchbaren Kommentare...
